I work from a strength-based perspective and a person-centered model to assist my clients who are struggling with symptoms related to depression, grief/bereavement, low self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, mental health issues, addiction, medical ailments, and relationship issues.
In today’s world there are no easy peaks. Individuals are burnt out, stressed, overwhelmed, and some may even feel defeated. Years ago I heard the saying, “Sometimes it takes more courage to ask for help than to act alone.” (Ken Petti). And I am here to tell you that you are not alone and that help is available.

Specialties include Sex Addiction and Partner Betrayal Trauma.
At Carolina Health & Recovery we provide a wealth of services but really focus to specialize in a few. Our society lives in a “doc in the box” and a “program” treatment world. But, from my experience, people rarely show up seeking mental health or addiction treatment because of something that started ailing them last week. Most people have suffered months, years, and sometimes a lifetime before seeking help. Often times people have sought help multiple times in the past, but with no lasting relief. Some never knew there was a different way of life. Others “never had a problem” until he/she came into their life. See how we can help!

My specialties include love, relationship , sex addictions as well as partner betrayal trauma.
Discovering our relationships are not what we thought they were can be a devastating and lonely place to be. Have you been blind-sided and discovered your partner has betrayed you? Do you feel you're continually left trying to pick up the pieces? Have you felt or been told it's "your fault"? Has the unacceptable become acceptable? Have you found yourself torn between relationships or in relationships you are confused about? My job is to offer a safe, non judgmental place for you to come and be heard. You are not alone. Together we can work on a plan for moving forward in a healthy way. There is HOPE.

Making the decision to participate in therapy is a big step. I applaud you for making this decision because I know it is not an easy one. Maybe you are suddenly in the midst of an emotional crisis. Something happened such as a breakup, a death, job loss or many other possibilities. Now what? How to deal with this pain or grief, loss or stressful situation. By forming a relationship with a neutral outside person who has training in these matters, you can begin to get a handle of what is going on for you, identify your thoughts and feelings and develop a plan for positive change.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
