I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Addictions Counselor, a Life Coach, a Relationship Coach, and a Spiritual Director.
I believe we all are meant to live an inspired life, and with a little work, we can break through the obstacles that hinder or keep us from thriving. Sometimes those obstacles may define themselves as depression, anxiety, or obsessions. If you are feeling stuck in a routine life, if your present relationship is not moving forward, if the behavior and actions you use to cope with stress have trapped you, maybe it is time for a change. I work with individuals, couples , and marriage partners who want to reach a higher potential in their life.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 12 years' experience partnering with individuals, couples , and families on issues related to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles.
Making the choice to pursue therapy means two things: 1) you feel ready to face something you want to change or improve in your life, and 2) you realize that you don't have to do it alone. Both of these demonstrate wisdom and strength, and it's an honor to be a part of that journey with my clients. Taking the step to work with a therapist allows you to hit the "reset button" on circumstances that may otherwise have you stuck. It offers a fresh perspective and a new set of skills with which to tackle the problem.

Some of my current interests include working with people facing problems with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, as well as marital, family and peer relationship difficulties.
I place importance on being approachable, thoughtful, sensitive and direct. In therapy, I think it is valuable to focus on both past and present experiences. Looking at your history can help us understand what sets of beliefs, about yourself and the world, might be holding you back from having a better experience in life - and what makes these beliefs so powerful. Examining current behaviors and interactions allows for reflection and adjustment of unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviors impeding your success and personal satisfaction.

I work with Adults, Young Adults, Adolescents and Couples on a wide range of issues and difficulties. Some specific interests include anxiety and depression, self -esteem, work-life balance, regulating emotions, relationship and communication problems, divorce, life transitions, grief, and parenting issues. I value a collaborative environment to develop new insights and strategies to manage stressors, process emotions, enhance strengths and implement effective life changes. Difficulties processing emotions and a lack of coping skills can keep people feeling 'stuck' and be a barrier to experiencing growth and joy in life.

I enjoy working with individuals but I specialize in couples work as well, as it can be a particularly intimidating venture to work with a spouse or significant other on communication, trust and connection.
As a new client special, I am now offering $25 off of your first session. My primary objective as a therapist is always to provide support, comfort and empathy to my patients; my hope is that an individual never feels shame or embarrassment in seeking some extra help to cope with life’s multitude of stressors. I believe that healing can be inspired through feelings of connection and understanding, these are crucial to a healthy therapeutic relationship . The process of seeking therapy or finding a therapist that is the right fit, can be understandably daunting, but I wish to make the process less stressful.

I believe in a collaborative approach to help couples and families create healthier environments where relationships are valued and grounded in mutual respect and unity.
Are you experiencing difficulties resolving conflicts, fostering intimacy, and communicating in your relationships? “Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation, like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path until one person in one generation has the courage to turn and face the flames” – Terry Real The family we grew up in is the place where we learned how to communicate, how to feel, and how to get our needs met. I help adults identify and work through family of origin issues to overcome fears, build healthy relationships, and achieve a sense of peace.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
