Searching for the right therapist for yourself, your child, or your family can feel overwhelming. You may have tried everything you can think of to help, yet things still feel difficult. Perhaps your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, behavioral challenges, or the effects of a stressful or traumatic experience. Maybe family relationships feel strained, or you're carrying the weight of caring for everyone else while quietly struggling yourself. You don't have to navigate this alone.

Hi, my name is Mikala and I have been a counselor for 6 years. I approach therapy from an integrative theoretical perspective, meaning I try to meet your needs in a personalized way. In sessions, you have the freedom to talk about whatever comes to your mind and should never feel you have to censor yourself. I like to emphasize self-awareness, build insight and help you become aware of unconscious processes and patterns you may be experiencing. At times, I may help you develop specific skills such as setting boundaries, learning coping skills, changing thoughts, or facing fears in a safe way.

Hello! I am currently accepting new clients! As both a counselor and a fellow human, I believe the most essential aspect of life is learning how to be a human for other humans. My goal is to guide people in showing up authentically for themselves and others—offering compassion, understanding, and connection. In a world where many of us long for deeper meaning, I believe much of our psychological distress stems from coming up short, feeling this need but struggling to find answers. In my work, I take an existential approach to help clients discover their unique purpose, grounded in the belief that every person is inherently valuable

Being human is complex, and emotions can feel overwhelming. Many people try to push difficult feelings away, only to feel more exhausted. I help clients understand their patterns, build skills, and work with their emotions instead of against them. I have experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotion dysregulation, and I tailor therapy to what you need most.

My ideal clients are individuals who feel “broken” as a result of their life experiences and are seeking to better understand themselves. I work best with clients who are curious and motivated to learn about the connection between the brain and body, and who have goals of increasing tolerance for physical and emotional sensations, processing past trauma, and identifying meaningful patterns in their daily lives.

I have a depth of knowledge on suicidal ideation and overall loss of hope in life.
You’re going through changes and it’s like you can’t feel the ground beneath you. You need a confidential place to share fears, worries, or concerns that you’re just not ready to tell anyone in your personal life. You need to sort these feelings out and find some balance that you know you once had before. You have a deep trust that you’ll find clarity in your future, but you need a therapeutic environment to take the first step. You’re ready - you have the wisdom and strength within you to move into this next chapter.

Life is beautiful, and it’s also chaotic—especially in a world that’s constantly asking us to go, go, go. When we’re not busy, we may feel unproductive or even judged for slowing down. Over time, we can lose touch with ourselves and stop listening to what we truly need, both physically and mentally. These constant demands show up differently for each of us—through anxiety, depression, OCD, overwhelm, restlessness, indecision, physical symptoms, and so much more. Counseling offers a space to pause, tune back in, and begin responding to yourself with greater awareness and compassion.

Sometimes life hits all at once. Relationships feel heavier, work drains you, and your confidence takes a hit you didn’t see coming. You’re capable, but the anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional burnout are getting harder to outrun. That's where I come in. With 10 years in the field, I work with adults who are done feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, and constant self-criticism. I’ll listen closely, ask the questions you’ve been avoiding, and help you see the patterns that keep pulling you off track. I show up with compassion, yes, but also honesty and practical steps you can actually use outside of session.

Hello. I’m Brad, a professional therapist and founder of Greenville Counseling. I like to think of therapy as having my own personal trainer, specialized in areas where I need it most. As a therapist, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and free to be yourself. Together, we'll explore areas in which you are stuck and feeling frustrated, while also building on your strengths and creating practical steps toward healing and growth. Bottom line: Your story matters to me, and I'd love to be a part of your story! And if you're a couple desiring counseling, I have years of experience.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
