Compassionate therapy provided in person and by telehealth.
Do you feel stuck in survival mode—going through the motions of life but not feeling fully alive? You may long for deep, loving connections yet struggle with trust, sometimes even with God. Stress may leave you feeling disconnected, defensive, withdrawn, or overwhelmed by worst-case thoughts. Perhaps you’ve tried self-help strategies and mindset changes but still feel out of sync with your body and find yourself defaulting to gut reactions when stressed. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and meaningful healing and connection are possible.

I believe that psychotherapy is a meditative dialogue that is constructed between you and I with the purpose of creating a sacred space. The function of the dialogue within the sacred space is to access memories, symbolic images and past experiences that live in your unconscious, and bring those contents into present awareness. This entire process is to help your personality to grow and often decrease the experience of emotional and spiritual pain.

You might be feeling stuck or struggling to communicate. It could feel like the wheeIs are coming off due to anxiety. You may be in a place where you have exhausted all options and don't know what to do. Talking about your feelings may be difficult and not something you are used to doing. You can take your control back and feel fulfilled. The more we learn about ourselves and how to build on the strengths we already possess, the better we can deal with life's ups and downs. You can learn how to live a healthier lifestyle mentally and physically. Be a better communicator and able to express feelings and emotions in a positive way.

Hey! "Everything happens for a reason"- If reading that made you cringe, I may be your therapist. "Everything is fine"- If reading that sounds super familiar, I may be your girl. I also may be the one, if it usually takes a lot to get you mad; but sometimes you see red before you know it. Someone can say 100 positive things about you but you can't forget the 1 negative. You question if people actually like you. You have a relationship with one or both of your parents, but one of the relationships could definitely be better. You have this voice in your head telling you what you should be doing, buuut you keep scrolling on your phone.

I offer therapy appointments in person or online via video.
I specialize in working with pre-teens through older adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and complex trauma, as well as folks navigating overwhelm and/or significant life transitions. Most of my clients are people who are feeling lost or disconnected from their true selves and their full potential, and need a little help finding their way back home. Many of them are convinced that they’re broken, that they’re the problem, and that their coping patterns are shameful. As a neurodivergent queer person, I know a little bit about what it’s like to be made to feel like you’re the problem. But here’s the thing: You. Make. Sense.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
