I have dealt with many issues including Grief/Loss, Anxiety , Depression, Child Abuse, Trauma, Parental Separation, Anxiety , Adoption, etc.
You are an overachiever in many ways but sometimes get overwhelmed by life. Figuring out where exactly you fit in the world, finding “your people”, and becoming who you are supposed to be takes love, support, and compassion from ourselves and others to allow us to be our best version. Therapy is a perfect addition to your support system and gives you support and education gained from years of experience and training to manage your emotions and relationships with others effectively. Because it's a lot harder to do that alone.

I imagine scrolling through pages of online profiles is not the best use of your time, and unfortunately it will be difficult to know if myself or any other therapist is a good fit based on their bio. What I can tell you that should hopefully be a good first gauge is 1. I am straightforward and honest. If you want my opinion I’ll give it. 2 If you want to heal, I will help but it may not always feel good. 3. I do what works, not what “should” work, because there isn’t a one size fits all therapy model. 4. I don’t get overwhelmed easily, so if you think you’re chaotic, complicated, “too much," we will likely be a good fit.

You’ve lost yourself. Somewhere along the way, whether during a toxic relationship or maybe with ongoing anxiety , you’ve become so different, you barely recognize the person you used to be. You used to be confident, independent, and capable. Now… you can scarcely imagine a life that’s not filled with doubt and the overwhelm of racing thoughts. At one point, you had joy and hope in your life, but not your life is unrecognizable due to the stress of it all. You want to take back control of your life! You want to find inner peace and find your voice. You’re tired of feeling like you’re treading water but not getting anywhere.

I commonly address concerns, such as, but not limited to, trauma, anxiety , depression, anger, ADHD, family & life transitions, challenges stemming from early childhood, spirituality, and grief & loss.
Sometimes, it feels overwhelming to try to 'keep up' or 'fix' things on your own. Maybe you don't know exactly what you need, but you know you want to feel better. Maybe there are things from your past that you have tried to move past, but they just keep creeping up again. I strive to come alongside individuals and families of all ages to help them overcome challenges, find meaning and joy in life, experience renewed strength, find true hope, and become mentally and emotionally healthy individuals. I keep a wholistic perspective, recognizing people as physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual beings.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
