I have many years experience working with adults and children suffering from depression, anxiety, OCD, anger issues, trauma, and abuse. I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. After my graduate studies, my primary focus and training was working with children suffering from ADHD , ODD, depression, and anxiety. I used behavioral management coupled with parenting strategies to improve the overall parent/child relationship. I gained incredible knowledge and insight regarding chronic pain as well as grief and loss while working with the elderly population through home health care and hospice.

Being a woman with ADHD is lonely, confusing, and at times, it can be embarrassing- especially when you're trying to explain it to someone who doesn't get it. You may feel chronically overwhelmed, have trouble with time management and organization, problems focusing on tasks which are boring or routine in nature, sensory issues that affect you ability to focus even more, or feeling like you just can't get your life together. As a therapist with ADHD , I get it. Therapy can provide support and guidance, tools for emotional regulation, and a better understanding of subconscious beliefs that perpetuate shame and keeps you stuck.

Receiving an ADHD diagnosis rarely comes with helpful information about ADHD or ways to help you manage. It can feel frustrating and confusing to have an answer, but still feel like you're lost in what it actually means. There are many supports for ADHDers: therapy, coaching and medication. They each provide you with a different kind of support and you get to decide which ones work best for you.

PhD, CLC
Dr. Medlock is accepting coaching clients. My goal, as a coach, is to help you move from where you are to where you want to be, helping you get unstuck and change perceptions, habits and behaviors to move forward. My clients seek coaching at a point in their lives where they are asking questions...Why am I not my best self or happy in my life? Why can't I seem to reach my goals? Why can't I figure out what I want? These questions begin a path to change. I use a strengths-based and positive psychology approach to work with adolescent and adult clients in life and career transitions and those straggling with ADHD / ADD /EF issues.

Life is full of ups and downs. It throws us curve balls when we least expect it and seems to give us more things to worry about every day. It can feel so overwhelming that we get lost in our thoughts, feel frozen in our next steps, or simply start overflowing our emotions onto others. None of this is who you truly are. You got buried under it all and aren’t sure how to get out. You spend a lot of time trying to shut out the thoughts, stop the feelings, and pretend they don’t exist only to find that they feel bigger and stronger. You might even be wondering if your current diagnosis is correct. Is it anxiety? ADHD ? Both? Neither?

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.
