We have all had those days where we feel that nothing is going our way and the world is imploding on us. When those days turn into weeks and/or months, and you feel that there is no way out, It may be time to seek some assistance. I have been there too. I work with people of all ages dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, abuse, grief, and emotional challenges, and provide a non-judgmental support system in which I encourage you to freely discuss personal concerns and desires for change.

I have helped people through marriage difficulties, depression/suicidal ideations, anxiety, grief, parenting problems, dealing with loss and stress and many other difficult life experiences.
I especially look forward to working with men who want to be great husbands and fathers but may be struggling to do so. In general, men want tools and order to solve problems. My education combined with my background in the military (Army) and college basketball gives me insight into what tools and direction will help men to become what God made them to be.

In addition to my mental health background, I have my own life experiences, coupled with being married to a minister, motherhood, and personal trauma, which have proven to be beneficial in my scope of practice.
I have done extensive work with grief/loss, anxiety, relational, premarital, substance use and Christian Counseling. So, what should one expect from counseling? A safe, private, and non-judgmental type setting to support emotional/personal needs. And yes— a little humor along the way, because laughter is truly good for the soul.

I believe that healing and emotional growth are ongoing processes, and that they truly continue throughout our lives. We are constantly breaking, repairing, learning. We are evolving in every moment. At times, however, we find ourselves stuck in the breakage. Unable to find the bend. Paused in the darkness and depth. Whether it is early childhood trauma or a current life situation; an unhealthy attachment or a tragic loss; low self-worth or misguided aggression...with mindfulness, awareness and a deep and connected relationship with a counselor, we can learn to find our way again.

You have so much on your plate, trying to keep up with work, family, relationships, and your own personal goals. Some days it feels like no matter how hard you try, you’re not giving enough or doing it the way you wish you could. You’re pulled in a hundred directions, and finding even a little time for yourself feels impossible. The expectations weigh you down, leaving you stressed, frustrated, and doubting yourself. You put on a smile and try to push through, but inside you feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water. And that just makes you feel even more alone, like no one really gets it. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Are you frustrated by your child's behavior? Children communicate through behavior. Exploring the meaning of challenging behaviors can help identify obstacles that may be preventing a child from expressing and managing strong feelings, from developing meaningful/effective relationships, and from coping with stress. The clients I typically see are resilient and want things to improve. This can mean different things I am here to help you determine how best to make this happen. I see working with the family, as well as the child, as critically important.

I specialize in providing customized fertility support services to individuals & couples dealing with infertility.
Life is a journey full of joy, disappointment, fear, courage, unexpected blessings and unplanned circumstance. The purpose of the journey, however, is to GROW through every adversity and every triumph and flourish. My ideal client seeks to be empowered through their growth process to achieve clarity, self-awareness and self-development. Although growth can be painful, the goal is to thrive after the breakthrough and to allow the transformation to better themselves and others.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
