I am deeply motivated and inspired by witnessing others become the best versions of themselves. I believe that the life experiences that I have had lend to my ability to empathize and help heal my clients. My approach to counseling includes a humanistic, person-centered approach. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which aims to look the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I also believe strongly in the connection between the mind and the body. We will work together to learn skills to center the body and calm the mind. When our mind and body are healed, change occurs in our lives!

My commitment is to help you live a successful and meaningful life, helping you find hope, peace and comfort. I work well with those who suffer from anxiety, depression, grief and trauma.

Life presents us with new challenges that some of us have not prepared for. It is these challenges that jeopardize our feelings of love and belonging and feels like a threat to our safety, welfare, and esteem. These challenges may include but are not limited to experiencing bereavement, feelings of depression, frustration, relationship and financial issues, burnout, and high levels of stress.

Somehow, somewhere you were sidelined, stepped on, misunderstood, judged unfairly, and forgotten. You don’t feel that you matter. No one cares about you. You don’t belong anywhere. While I love working with a variety of challenges, I find work particularly rewarding when assisting those who are struggling with neurodivergent or LGBTQIA+ challenges, as well as those who are working through severe mental illness. Helping people through acceptance of their selves, creating strategies to achieve their goals, communicating with friends, families and strangers, and maintaining daily levels of stability brings me immense joy and satisfaction.

I have primarily worked with children, adolescents, and their families for the past 20 years in mental health, residential and school settings. Prior to that, I worked for a domestic violence, rape crisis, and child abuse center where I worked with survivors and their families in various capacities, including group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and victim advocacy. This has provided a great deal of experience working with trauma and related issues, such as depression and anxiety in adults and children. It also has given me the opportunity to see families grow and make positive changes in their lives after adversity

Many of the clients I provide services to have experienced challenges that no one should have to go through in a lifetime. The children, adolescents and families that I serve may have participated in counseling previously or are trying it for the first time. People may have felt that their or their children's issues were beyond help or intervention. People I work with are offered strategies and solutions to life's challenges, in a comfortable environment, with a compassionate and dedicated counselor. I work closely with each person, family and child so they may achieve the difference in their life that they wish to see.

As a counselor at Stewart Behavioral Health, I believe it's important for clients to feel that they are in a safe and non-judgmental environment, and as their counselor I strive to provide this type of atmosphere. Each treatment and session is tailored to the needs of the individual client and their presenting concerns. I allow the client to set the goals of therapy and help guide them if they need it. I have worked for Christian-based counseling agencies in the past, and if religion is important, this is something we can focus on. I also have experience with defiance, ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
