I see clients in-person at my Charlotte, NC office & also offer telehealth sessions for convenience and flexibility to NC and SC residents.
You may appear capable and put-together, but internally you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stretched. You may be navigating relationship stress, preparing for marriage, or adjusting to a major life transition while trying to meet everyone’s expectations—including your own. Perfectionism and pressure to keep things running smoothly can leave you exhausted and disconnected from yourself or your loved ones. At The Ridge Therapy, life transitions are approached like walking a narrow ridge—requiring balance, focus, and support. Slowing down, clarifying what matters most, and moving forward with greater confidence & stability.

I offer self-pay in person and virtual sessions for all ages.
The ideal client who would reach out for my services comes from various backgrounds and situations, but tends to be those who are at a point in life where they feel stuck and are searching for someone to aid them with support and goal setting. This ranges from those who are struggling with a child at home, to children and adults on the autism spectrum, and those who need court mandated services. I have biblical insight that can provide a faith based perspective if and when that is desired. Sometimes we just need someone who is willing to meet us where we are , and help us feel we are not alone. Clients who are looking for change.

I offer therapy services in-person at my office in downtown Columbia or online.
I love working with couples and families who wish to break free of unproductive patterns and reconnect with one another on a deeper lever. I see how much our relationships between affect ourselves within. No matter how hurt we've been, how self-protective we are, or how desperate we want to connect, we sometimes get in the way of the very closeness we seek. With compassion and understanding, I work with clients to build on strengths and attain more secure loving bonds in their relationships.

From the outside, it looks like you have it all together. But on the inside, it feels more complicated. You’re thoughtful, reflective, and self-aware; you can name your inner challenges—overthinking, shutting down, people-pleasing, pushing others away—still, something keeps you feeling stuck. These cycles are often fueled by feelings of self-doubt, perfectionism, fear of abandonment, and emotional disconnection. We can work to understand these patterns and how they serve you, helping you to live a more authentic life in accordance with your values.

“You don’t have to keep pretending you’re okay. Therapy is a place where your pain is seen, your voice is heard, and your healing can begin.” You’ve been hurt, overlooked, or made to feel like you don’t matter. That pain has left you carrying anxiety, depression, or unhealthy patterns that keep you stuck. On the outside you smile, but inside you feel invisible, exhausted, and alone. Therapy is a confidential space where you no longer have to pretend. Together, we’ll untangle the weight you’ve been carrying, break the cycles that hold you back, and help you begin building a life filled with connection, confidence, and joy.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
