Since obtaining my Masters in Clinical Social Work in 2004, much of my experience has focused on supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD/ ADD, and grief.
My focus is on meeting each person where they are at; seeing their uniqueness and strengths and using these as the foundations for bringing about desired change, acceptance, and helping one see their own strengths. I have a variety of tools in my therapeutic "tool box" and strive to use the tools/techniques that resonate most for each individual. For some it may be a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach or Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), others Mindfulness, and still others spirituality, somatic work, imagery, or art process may resonate... usually it is a combination of several.

All of us deserve to savor what life has to offer to the fullest extent possible. Many experience that journey as compromised by difficult transitions or painful circumstances in their lives, threatening to rob them of their joy. These blockages may come from events in the present such as loss of a loved one or a deteriorating relationship; or they may result from earlier events that have left wounds/scars unhealed. We provide individual, group, and family sessions to help create awareness and understanding of how to get back to 'Me'. We explore issues and allow clients to choose to heal mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

I know that for many people the hardest part of therapy is picking up the phone to ask for help, I want to thank you for taking that first step. Choosing the right person to help is a very individual process, and time after time the best predictor of successful counseling or therapy has been shown to be the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. If you feel confident that my training, approach to therapy, and personality are the right match for you, we will discuss our options regarding treatment.

Life, in today's world, presents so many challenges for individuals or couples. I am a Tele-health provider in SC. Stresses and strains challenge families and couples trying to manage daily life in today's society. College students with various issues need guidance. Individuals trying to maintain work-life balance face the desire to manage their day to just "fit in everything". Those in mid-life or near retirement need guidance to find new meaning in their next phase of life. Counseling services can help with those issues. Coaching provides non-counseling strategies meeting client's goals for their desired goals toward change.

My love for therapy is driven by the opportunity to empower my clients to become the best versions of themselves despite whatever is going on in life. I believe that my clients are the experts in their own life and that therapy is a collaborative process of listening, understanding and working together to create change. I approach our work together by looking at the whole person, both mind and body, to determine and utilize the most appropriate evidence-based treatment. I enjoy working with general life transitions, stress, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, and prenatal/postpartum mood disorders.

Waitlist for new clients
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, others, or a sense of direction. You may find yourself stuck in spirals of “what if” or “no one will understand,” carrying fears of being judged, dismissed, or seen as a burden. You may be balancing high expectations, shifting relationships, major life transitions, or the quiet loneliness that grief can bring, and trying to do it all without losing yourself in the process. Asking for help may feel unfamiliar or overwhelming, yet holding everything in has only made things heavier and more isolating. If any of this resonates with you, you’re not alone.

I’ve specialized in working with adolescents and adults, helping them confront and overcome challenges like depression, anxiety, ADHD and substance use, using a blend of evidence-based practices.
Imagine a teenager, bright and capable, but weighed down by the pressures of school and the nagging voice of self-doubt. Perhaps a parent or a spouse finding it difficult to engage and feel fulfilled with their life. Or an athlete, full of potential but struggling to perform at their best consistently. These are the kinds of stories I’ve encountered over my 25+ years as a therapist, educator, and consultant. Every client I meet has their own unique story, and my role is to help them navigate their path to improve their mental well-being and reach peak performance. My approach is all about understanding the person behind the story.

I have been a professional Social Worker/Therapist for 30 years.....time flies does it not?!? I have learned a good bit about people, and myself, during this time: I have learned when to speak up and when to shut up and listen. I have learned that I am good at breaking through barriers and I have learned that I prefer kindness over judgment and direct communication over guesswork. I have also learned how resilient people can be and how everyone comes to therapy with the issue AND the solution: We just have to work together to unravel the answer! Please reach out if you think we would be a good fit!

ADHD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
