I work from an attachment based, trauma informed, interpersonal lens.
Everyone of us has a story that is filled with beauty and hurt. How do we hold the hope and pain of our own lives? How do we navigate the relational distress that lives in us and between others? How can we lead our anxiety rather than it leading us? How can we engage emotions in ways that bring healing and foster connection with self and others? It is my desire to join clients in understanding their own story - past, present, and future - to identify the places in which hope has been shattered, how it has been sought, and consider the way of restoration.

Trauma tends to interrupt the natural flow of a healthy relationship.
As a Relationship Therapist for Current and Former Professional and Collegiate Athletes, I often hear “I don’t do conflict, “It’s all their fault,” or “I'm the problem." The real feeling I sense is that you feel frustrated because your relationships aren’t really working out or you keep experiencing the same outcome again and again. Settling or feeling like you have to survive your partner, sport, or relatives instead of really thrive in authentically, aligned relationships? You've been navigating relationships with your sport, romantic partner(s), family, friends, coaches, etc. and oftentimes overlooking the relationship with you.

I have worked with survivors of interpersonal trauma for over 14 years, along with those experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD , stress-management issues, low self-esteem, body image issues, and childhood trauma .
A particular quote by Maya Angelou always resonated with me, “there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you”, and has directed my style of counseling, which is very person-centered, compassionate and empathetic. I believe we all deserve a safe space to turn off our editor, speak freely, and release that which is burdening us. The goal is to empower clients by identifying internal strengths, overcoming excessive and often chronic feelings of guilt and shame, challenging negative beliefs and replacing those with a more positive self image. To find your true voice underneath the layers of previous conditioning.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
