I also treat anxiety, depression, relationship concerns as well as grief and loss.
You’re feeling defeated and overwhelmed and wonder if anyone or anything can help. Life has become painful and unmanageable at times and nothing is quite working to make it better. You're not sure if the pain or heartache will ever go away. Sometimes, you use things to cope with life and those things start to become hurtful or harmful, too. Imagine being able to manage life not just by surviving or trying to get through the day but by experiencing peace, fulfillment and enjoyment.

My practice offers assistance to children, youth, adults, couples & families.
It is my pleasure to meet with clients willing to look at issues that result in their feeling "stuck." I believe that change is best made against the backdrop of a rich, non-judgmental and and compassion. relationship Working together, we can look at what solutions have been attempted in the past: what has worked, and what has not. Collaboratively, we can resolve to forge a new path with new habits, freeing the client to become his/her best self. In this way, the client can author the rest of the story with the chapters and ending they themselves choose to embrace.

I enjoy working with diverse populations, including adults, children, families, couples , recent immigrants and the LGBT population.
I know that for many people the hardest part of therapy is picking up the phone to ask for help, I want to thank you for taking that first step. Choosing the right person to help is a very individual process, and time after time the best predictor of successful counseling or therapy has been shown to be the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. If you feel confident that my training, approach to therapy, and personality are the right match for you, we will discuss our options regarding treatment.

All of us deserve to savor what life has to offer to the fullest extent possible. Many experience that journey as compromised by difficult transitions or painful circumstances in their lives, threatening to rob them of their joy. These blockages may come from events in the present such as loss of a loved one or a deteriorating relationship ; or they may result from earlier events that have left wounds/scars unhealed. We provide individual, group, and family sessions to help create awareness and understanding of how to get back to 'Me'. We explore issues and allow clients to choose to heal mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Feel caught between individual frustration and relationship significance? That your relationship has become a high-stakes win/lose proposition? Working through a relational, systemic approach, we can explore and strengthen your relational bonds and your place within them. Often, life is as much about how we tell our stories as it is the content of these narratives. Attachment is a key part of my work with romantic/sexual partners and families, being newly seen and heard in more complete ways can be transformative and hope-inducing.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
