Hello! My name is Lina. I am a mom to 3 teens and a marriage veteran of 19 yrs from Texas. I have lived in South Carolina for 3 years where I have been pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in systemic sex therapy. What is sex therapy? It is purely talk therapy. Most therapists address your mental health issues. Sex therapists address your mental health issues when they’re impacting, and being impacted by, your sexual functioning and relationships.

I have over 20 years in the Mental Health Field! I am a survivor of trauma due to losing a loved one to suicide. I know personally what grief and depression feels like when you have a sudden unexpected loss….but I also know what it feels like to regain strength to continue living as I walked out my healing.

I worked within the behavioral and mental health fields for approx. 10 years; with emphasis and specialized training in marriage, family, and couples' therapy, as well as, childhood and family based trauma. I have been practicing as a licensed clinical psychologist in the Columbia area for over 35 years. I use a caring, and direct, solution-focused approach to help individuals and couples to better understand themselves and to help them find solutions to their difficulties. I treat individuals who experience anxiety, depression, and addictions. I treat couples who are trying to understand how their relationship deteriorated, how to resolve conflicts, how to re-establish emotional intimacy, and how to prevent future difficulties. I also conduct psychological and custody evaluations for individuals and for the court system.

After the death of my 21-year old son due to a homicide, my life as I once knew it, changed forever. This horrific experience has taught me that you do not get over your grief, you strive to get through and beyond it. This is not like the five stages of grief one experiences during an expected loss of a loved one, you do not progress step by step, but you can get through it.
