Stressed out? Overwhelmed? Wondering how to find your way back to a life you enjoy living instead of just going through the motions? As adult women we tend to take on too much and put everyone and everything before ourselves. We often feel depleted and want life to be different, but we keep doing the same thing. As a college student, stress and unhealthy relationships become your norm. As a teenager , insecurities, stress, and social media put you on a path filled with anxiety, depression, and self doubt. I'd like to help you get back on track, find some inner peace amidst all the chaos, and have fun along the way.

I began my career, as a Bachelor’s level provider, while my family was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I worked for a military contract under UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior. On completion of my MSW, I rejoined the FOCUS team at Camp Lejeune, NC as a Resiliency Trainer for military families & couples. We relocated to Beaufort, SC, and I joined the Military & Family Life Counselor Program. I served in multiple roles as an MFLC, including a school-based assignment and an adult Army Recruiting Command assignment. Becoming a therapist has been my dream since a therapist changed my life as teenager .

I specialize in a variety of areas including trauma therapy, couple/family therapy, parenting skills, stress management, child/ adolescent behavioral issues, mood disorder including anxiety and depression, grief.
When individuals become physically ill, they often work toward improving their health through self-care or visits to their doctor. However, many individuals neglect proper self-care by not addressing their mental health and wellness. We all experience difficult times that impact our ability to manage how we think, feel and behave. Our mental health impacts our physical health and consequently, when we are depressed or stressed, we tend to become ill easily, which in turn affects how we interact with others. I want to assist you in making your mind, body and spirit connection for your total wellness.

My area of expertise is in working with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, sexual addictions, couples suffering from infidelity, LGTQI issues, parenting, adolescent issues, childhood abuse and trauma, among other emotional, sexual, and spiritual problems people face.
Psychotherapy can bring a combination of uneasiness and hope. Seeking therapy is a courageous step. My hope is that it is a process in which you will be able to feel safe to express yourself openly and honestly. The goal is to find a “fit” with a therapist in which they will be able to help you with the questions and dilemmas that you are facing. We have the same goal: to get you to the point where you can "fire" me as quickly as possible. I love working with people who are willing to allow another person join them for a season on their journey through a life of healing and becoming the person they were meant to be.

If, you're experiencing self-defeating thoughts, low self-esteem, feeling worthless, dealing with a sick love one, employment issues and substance abuse issues. That is robbing you of your inner peace making it difficult for you to establish and maintain healthy relationships with your family, friends and work relationships. Give me a call.

Is your child and/or adolescent struggling to adapt to life's changes? Are they exhibiting behavioral, emotional, or cognitive problems that are beyond that of what is typically seen for their age? Being a parent is the hardest, yet most rewarding part of life. However, a parent's job becomes increasingly more difficult and complicated when your child is struggling to express feelings, explore relationships, and build self-esteem. It affects not only the child, but the family as a unit.

Dr. Medlock is accepting coaching clients. My goal, as a coach, is to help you move from where you are to where you want to be, helping you get unstuck and change perceptions, habits and behaviors to move forward. My clients seek coaching at a point in their lives where they are asking questions...Why am I not my best self or happy in my life? Why can't I seem to reach my goals? Why can't I figure out what I want? These questions begin a path to change. I use a strengths-based and positive psychology approach to work with adolescent and adult clients in life and career transitions and those straggling with ADHD/ADD/EF issues.

I can attend school meetings for any teen , to offer advocacy.
Hi – my name is Dr. Kleinfelter but some just call me “Dr. K.” I am a clinical psychologist based in Columbia and have worked with South Carolina’s children and families for over 30 years. I mainly serve adolescents ages 11 to 21, although I have worked with adults and may see someone who is older, depending on the circumstance. My primary specialty areas include: high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (hfASD) or Asperger’s Syndrome, and working with LGBTQI+ youth. But I have seen people from all walks of life. Covid has taken a toll on people's mental health; reaching out for therapeutic help is no longer uncommon.

I have several approaches to addressing the needs of individuals, couples, and families. These approaches address a wide range of mental, emotional, and health issues. Common issues include depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship issues. After assessment I suggest which approaches would be most beneficial to long term resolution. Therapy may involve traditional therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting (MR), Ericksonian Hypnotherapy or a combination of all. I always discuss these options with my client so that we both arrive at a plan of treatment that the client is comfortable with. See sandraehennies.com for more information

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
