I love working with children and adolescents. Before I get a history from you, I like to meet with your teenager to let them feel like they have a choice in picking their therapist. This gives them a sense of control and they are then more committed to the therapy. I will integrate the family as necessary. I have extensive success with children of divorce, those experiencing anxiety, depression, low self esteem and difficulty managing anger. I also connect well with adults and young adults dealing with life transitions.
Working with families and children over the past 35 years has naturally required me to have expertise in parenting issues and developing behavioral contracts to manage difficult behavior in children coupled with traditional individual or family therapy. I also have training and expertise with couples therapy.
I have expertise in play therapy and working with the LGBTQ population. My treatment preferences are psychodynamic, CBT and behavioral when appropriate. I also have 20 years experience providing clinical supervision to several disciplines.
