I work within BIPOC communities to help with difficulties navigating ethnic and/or racial identity, past & present family dynamics, mood-related concerns, interpersonal relationships, neurodiversity, and overall emotional regulation. Throughout my career, I have seen how a safe therapeutic relationship creates space to explore one's self, family, and larger system in order to relearn ways of navigating life with culturally-informed self-determination. I use eclectic approaches to weave together different theories that create a custom-tailored treatment plan according to individual needs, backgrounds, strengths, goals, and more.
I strive to decolonize therapy by honoring ancestral traditions, cultural values, and generational practices often pathologized by Western therapies; breakdown stigmas about mental health in BIPOC communities through reteaching, compassion, validation, and empathy; and encourage proactive mindsets that help individuals (re)claim authority in their lives.
As a second-generation Korean American, I recognize the growing need for culturally sensitive therapists in oppressed communities. Whether they’re first-timers or returning souls willing to try one more time, I hope to create a safe space for BIPOC individuals to explore their mental health and learn more about their authentic selves.
