Couples often struggle with recurring misunderstandings that are difficult to resolve because each partner may interpret language, emotion, intention, and behavior differently. I help couples identify where communication is breaking down, understand the differences contributing to those patterns, and develop more effective ways of speaking and listening. The goal is greater clarity, less misinterpretation, and a relationship in which both partners feel more accurately understood.
I specialize in communication challenges, particularly in neurodiverse couples, where differences in interpretation can lead to ongoing misunderstanding and disconnection. My work is based on themes developed in my book, "How We Miss Each Other: Meaning, Misunderstanding, and the Search for Connection," emphasizing curiosity and explicit word choice.
If you struggle to understand what is happening in your relationship, you do not have to arrive with the answers. We can begin by looking carefully at where communication is breaking down and what each of you is trying to convey. I offer online sessions for couples and individuals.
