My ideal client is someone who is curious about themselves and the relationships they cultivate. They notice some patterns or triggers in their lives but they aren't sure where they stem from or how to work with them. Perhaps they have been to therapy before and are looking for a more relational approach with deeper insights.
I focus on building a secure relationship with clients. It is through our relationship together that we can uncover the unconscious roots and meanings of distressing feelings, behaviors and thoughts. My approach also includes an understanding of the ways people experience trauma, including social and economic disenfranchisement (i.e. poverty, racism, etc.)
The program I graduated from is psychodynamic based. This means I'm particularly interested in childhood experiences and past traumas while I am getting to know clients. Additionally, I'm currently getting trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Center.
