Sarah Perl
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW-R, CDWF
Beginning or resuming psychotherapy is a deeply personal choice that is often met with complicated and sometimes even conflicting emotions. I believe that in order for people to make the best use of psychotherapy, they need to feel respected, safe, and supported within the therapeutic relationship. This lays the foundation upon which one can better understand themselves and in turn grow. My practice aims to assist people with improving the quality of their interpersonal relationships, deepening their understanding of the familial/relational context in which they were raised, and living a more fulfilling life.
I have completed post-graduate training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, addiction, grief/loss, and chronic illness (particularly HIV & AIDS). My clinical approach draws upon the theoretical ideas of the relational, interpersonal, and harm reduction philosophies as well as self psychology and object relations.
I am a Certified Daring Way(tm) Facilitator. Through discussion, video, and a variety of written and creative exercises this group is designed to help members develop shame resilience skills and to transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead. Visit my website for upcoming group information.

Sarah Perl's Groups
Daring in NYC Winter 2019
This psychoeducational group is designed to help members explore their own relationship to vulnerability, shame, and wholeheartedness. Together, participants learn about topics such as trust, values, empathy, self-compassion, myths of vulnerability, shame shields, identities & triggers. Members self select which area of their life that they would like to work with as a learning paradigm while participating in the group. The use of metaphor is intertwined in the curriculum and creativity is invited. Through discussion, videos, worksheets, and guided exercises, Sarah leads group members through a process of self-discovery and promote connection with self and others. www.sarahperlpsychotherapy.com
