The term "creative neurocounseling" describes my approach to therapy, which is founded in basic human connection, augmented by our understanding of the brain, and deepened by the practice of creative expression. Verbal language is a critical aspect of our lives, so much so that we can't imagine life without it. But our minds work far beyond the scope of conscious vocabulary - and we can harness that aspect in remarkable ways. My clients are often highly sensitive, highly intelligent folks who struggle with addictions, eating disorders, or other long-term consequences of developmental trauma.
With a background in medicine and science spanning two decades, I know a lot about the human brain and how it interacts with the rest of the body. As a therapist, I know that in times of crisis, we can respond habitually in not-so-healthy ways. When you're feeling hijacked by your own mind, getting back on track is much easier with the right kind of support.
