I work with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling in loud and quiet ways. I have a down-to-earth style and many years of experience with a range of issues including trauma, mood disorders, difficulties with emotional and sexual intimacy, emotional and behavioral challenges in children and adolescents, and family conflict. Recognizing that insight is sometimes not enough, my approach combines exploration with more active interventions. I have an extensive background in psychodynamic, DBT, family systems, play and couples therapy, and carefully tailor treatments to each patient's needs.
In my practice I see adults and teenagers in talk-based psychotherapy, and child patients in play therapy. I work closely with parents/caregivers to support the family's understanding of the child's internal world and how best to respond to it.
I earned my Ph.D. from LIU-Brooklyn; completed an advanced post-doctoral fellowship in the treatment of trauma at Mount Sinai Morningside; and spent years working in NYC hospitals including Columbia University Medical Center, Beth Israel, St. Luke's Roosevelt, and Bronx Children's Psychiatric Center.
