I'm a licensed clinical social worker living in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with my husband and two rescue dogs; Pip and Pierre. I attended graduate school at the University of Alabama in my 40's after careers in other fields. I, like so many of my clients, was searching for purpose and meaning in my life. Clinical social workers complete two years of post graduate clinical training and must pass a clinical licensing exam. It was at this point that I began working with clients across the spectrum of age, race, sexual identity and income. Yet most of us long for the same thing; to be loved, to belong, to feel satisfied and to be happy.
I am trained in cognitive behavior therapy; a type of talk therapy that has been demonstrated to be highly effective in treating anxiety and depression. I am also a strong believer in the mind/body connection and mindfulness plays a large role in my practice.
Empathy, honesty and warmth are the hallmarks of building the rapport necessary to the therapist/client relationship. I invite you to reach out to me so that we can begin building that relationship. It is my promise to you that I will never judge you and will always meet you with compassion and warmth.
