I specialize in trauma (I'm certified in EMDR & Sandplay), love addiction, and eating disorders (Master's degree in Nutrition).
How long have you been wanting help? There's nothing better than waking up happy every day, in a life full of precious moments & meaningful relationships. We both know that it’s not always like that, not everybody has that kind of life. Maybe you don’t have that kind of life now, but you want to. You’ve probably noticed that you have some patterns that you keep repeating, no matter how hard you try not to, you may have relationship trouble, trauma, disordered eating. Together we’ll look at the negative patterns & beliefs keeping you stuck. Life can be messy, it can be really hard but you do not have to do it alone. I can help.

I believe that through talk therapy we can gain insight into the roots of our problematic thoughts and behaviors, but to achieve meaningful change we have to do something, which is why I integrate several modalities including EMDR, sandplay therapy, nutritional coaching, walking sessions, trauma informed chair yoga, and mindfulness meditation.
If you have been impacted by trauma, are experiencing intense emotional reactions, or just in need of extra support through life's transitions, then my goal is to help you feel more balanced, healthy, and present in your daily life. I believe that our minds and bodies are always at work to heal, and with the right tools we can work to facilitate powerful changes. Therapy can help you to gain deeper insight into your behaviors and break out of patterns that don't serve you. Together, we will set clear goals aimed at improving your quality of life and find concrete tools to manage your emotions and relationships.

The environment we grow up in can have an enormous impact on the way we view and navigate the world. As a result, we tend to become stuck in this cycle of shame and blame. I am no stranger to generational trauma and my goal is to help you break cycles of self-doubt and negative coping by embracing your most authentic self.

Whether you are confronting relationship issues, divorce, life transitions, anxiety, trauma, or grief and loss, my goal is to provide you with a genuine and supportive therapeutic relationship where you can grow, heal, and thrive. Change is possible and I am here to help.

If you’re reading this congratulations on taking the first step towards achieving your goals. You’ve decided to reach out and sometimes that is the hardest part. For over 15 years I’ve enjoyed helping those navigate the path to healing. I believe a safe and empathic environment is the foundation to this path. My practice works with those facing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, performance issues, adoption, and relationship conflict. After many years behind the athletic bench I also have a passion for working with athletes and performers seeking to enhance the mental side of their game or barriers that impact their performance.

For many of us, change can ignite a number of adverse thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Without the appropriate tools, moments of transition can leave us feeling overwhelmed and paralyzed with our own anxieties and fears. With the right tools, we can learn how to face change with a deeper understanding, awareness and acceptance of ourselves and our circumstances.

I am a modern and hip child/adolescent and adult psychotherapist looking to remove the stigma of therapy by making it accessible, solution based and engaging to young kids and teens. Therapy shouldn't be a punishment or a seen as a defeat. Yes of course, we will do hard work and it won't always be easy, but with years of experience and education, I am able to connect with my young clients and show them that together we can find a solution.

Jessica has a decade of experience in the field of psychotherapy. Her journey in the world of counseling has taken her through various settings, from schools and residential programs to providing in-home services and outpatient care. This diverse background has enriched her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life. Providing culturally sensitive services to the clients she serves is of paramount importance to her. She is a biracial woman (although she appears white) and intentionally creates a space in therapy for clients to process their racial experience and issues related to their racial identity.

Sandplay Therapists

What problems are best treated with sandplay therapy?

Research has examined this therapy’s utility in young people and found positive results. It has been shown to be useful for those who suffer from autism, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, and or aggressive behavior. Children who have suffered abuse, neglect, or trauma have also seen improvement through this therapy. Abused children are often fearful and anxious about their safety, making verbal communication more difficult.

Is sandplay therapy suitable for children and teenagers?

Children and adolescents are good candidates for sandplay therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts, let alone the emotions they are experiencing. Through this play therapy, they will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Is sandplay suitable for adults?

This type of therapy can be useful for adults who have difficulties expressing themselves. People who have suffered neurological changes after a brain injury or because of a traumatic event might be good candidates for this therapy. In fact, anything that has had an effect on the brain, such as substance abuse, can make non-verbal sandplay a valuable option.

Does sandplay therapy work?

There have been studies on the effectiveness of sandplay therapy, and it appears to improve difficult behaviors in children. It may also enhance self-esteem and lessen feelings of physical anxiety as well as hypersensitivity. This type of therapy is based on non-verbal communication and may feel less threatening to the individual.
