I provide psychotherapy to individuals and families who are struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, adoption, attachment, trauma, grief and loss, chronic illness and family relationships. My expertise and passion includes working with individual adults, young children (0-6 years old) and parents. I work primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), but I am trained in Infant Mental Health, Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), EMDR Therapy, Jungian Sandplay Therapy, and Energy Medicine, as well. I am able to support a client's spiritual growth (when desired by the client).

Hi name is Justien, she/her/hers, and I am the owner of Soothing Sands Therapy, LLC. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and young adults. I am fascinated with how the brain works finding ways to make the growth process go as smoothly as possible. It is because of my interest in brain development that I have found alternative ways to do therapy other than talking. When we think about adolescent and adolescent years, we just want to survive it but my passion is to help others not only get through it, but thrive through those years. I am also available to provide supervision to individuals in candidacy.

I obtained my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Argosy University. I specialize in youth and family therapy, in Lakewood, CO. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. I hold certificates in systemic Art, Play, and Sandplay therapy. I earned my Bachelor's in Human Services with an emphasis in Rehabilitative Counseling and minors in Art and Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado. I have a passion for providing an outlet for individuals to have a safe place to grow and reach their full potential.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and received a Master's degree in Somatic Psychology, (Body Psychotherapy) from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I have significant experience working with families, adolescents, children, and adults all over the world. Among other extensive work with children from 2 to 18 years, I have worked with orphans in Mexico that were survivors of significant trauma and abuse and in Colombia with a group of displaced women, survivors of war. My therapeutic focus centers on the integration of the body and the mind in order to help my clients flourish.

I offer virtual therapy in the morning hours of 7-10:30 throughout the week; and Friday and Saturday AM/PM. Sessions are centered around cultivating a calm, clear and collected mind and body to support clients of ALL ages and ALL backgrounds in a grounded and embodied self. I also have a tremendous passion in social justice and JEDI related advocacy alongside clients and community members that identify as 2SLGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC.
