Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina. I believe that every person has the ability to reach to their fullest potential in life with the right support network and guidance. I have a broad range of counseling experience working with young children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. I use EMDR and cognitive behavioral therapy and to assist clients who are interested in establishing better communication skills, have a desire to build healthier relationships, and want to learn positive strategies when dealing with life's day to day challenges.

My experience has prepared me to work with body image issues, crises, self-harm, suicide ideation, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, interpersonal issues, grief, coping skills, religious trauma, disordered eating, and LGBTQIA+ matters. I specifically have a heart for clients who are navigating and processing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I also love supporting individuals who are working through religious trauma or concerns. I have deep understanding and empathy for how difficult it can be to navigate personal growth through the lens of changing or leaving behind belief systems, cultures, and communities.

In the over 27 years of my work as a psychotherapist and educator, I have learned, experienced, and walked down the path of healing with hundreds who were able to change the quality of their lives. I am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Counseling in SMU’s Counseling Department, training future counselors, My book “So Long Depression” is a result of my experiences with hopes of changing lives. I present internationally on various topics related to mental health, trauma, healing, and Spirituality in psychotherapy.

Having worked in the school setting the last 10 years, I know that times are really tough for our kids. As parents, we may not know how to handle the things our kids go through, or even understand. I want to help by providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and youth to process their emotions and teach them healthy coping skills to get them through life’s difficult times.

I am trained to treat adults, teens, and children as young as 3 years old. I specialize in sexual, emotional, and psychological trauma, PTSD, family violence survivors, anxiety, depression, life transitions, codependency, and self-esteem. In my work with teens and children, I specialize in addressing behavioral issues, improving parenting skills and parent-child relationships, ADHD, family conflict, self-harm, self-esteem, and coping skills.

I work as a partner with my clients to gain or restore a healthy balance individually and within the context of their relationships. Looking for a therapist for your child or adolescent can be daunting. Every child's situation and needs are different. I provide a warm, energetic, compassionate atmosphere to help make my clients and their families feel at ease. Whether that means talking while playing ping pong or talking via telehealth. I believe that when a child is in their element, they are more likely to be receptive to the therapeutic process. This is why our office has several play and activity rooms.
