Azmaira H Maker, PhD, Psychologist in San Diego
I have over 20 years of experience with adults, children, and adolescents. My training at one of the top clinical programs enables me to provide a range of services, including: diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, parent guidance, and psychological and educational testing. I specialize in child, teen, and adult depression, anxiety, learning and school issues, parenting, divorce, pregnancy loss, adoption, family/marital conflict, trauma, loss, and testing. I provide you with specific tools to overcome challenges, facilitate coping skills, and adapt to life stressors. Please visit my website and for details.
With children and teens, I utilize play therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy for effective tools and change. I collaborate closely with parents from a family systems and developmental perspective. With adults, I utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach for immediate change, and a deeper psychodynamic approach to enhance self-esteem and relationships, and change patterns.
My extensive doctoral and post-doctoral training at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, facilitated my expertise in multiple domains. In collaboration, we determine your immediate and long-term needs and goals. We work closely together to overcome your life and family challenges, to achieve success, and to thrive again.
