If the old coping strategies have stopped working, or worse, are becoming self-destructive, reaching out for help can be a daunting but ultimately liberating step toward growth and healing. My communication style is direct, but equally warm, empathic, and relatable. I have been practicing for 25 years working with youth & adults in both short-term behavioral skills-based treatment models as well as longer-term supportive psychotherapy. I have experience in both the private and non profit sectors as a Clinician, Clinical Supervisor of intern therapists, Family Mediator, Family Program Director, and Clinical Consultant.
Early in my career I worked primarily with kids & families, later moving into work with adults so I have experience across the life span. I have extensive education & training (CBT, DBT, Mediation & Family Systems). But what makes therapy work is the same as a any relationship: trust, commitment, and perseverance so I am selective taking on new clients.
I have special interest in life transitions (ie leaving college and entering the workforce, life after a divorce, life after a major loss or break up, life after entering or leaving a treatment center program, etc), anxiety & depressive disorders, and assertive communication/healthy boundaries in family systems. I work with individuals, couples, & families.
