My name is Sammy Robertson, and I have spent the past five years working in schools as a full-time school counselor. Currently, I am working part-time as a school counselor while also transitioning into the private practice space. As a counselor, I strive to be an advocate for children and their families, all while ensuring they feel welcomed, included, supported, and heard. In particular, I believe that issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are a top priority for all of the children and families I work with.
It is my personal goal to ensure equitable mental health and wellness care to all students, especially those historically underserved, such as students of color and LGBTQ+ students. As a queer person, this is deeply personal for me.
Through my experience working in schools as a third-grade classroom teacher and now as a school counselor, I have gained a deep understanding of and have an important combination of clinical knowledge and in-school experience which gives me a unique perspective and peek into children's’ many varied experiences throughout childhood and adolescence.
