I work with a variety of concerns related to finding one's way through life. Effective therapeutic relationships are where mutually agreed upon goals are worked toward. Research suggests that utilizing treatment approaches that are consistent with personal beliefs is effective. Thus, I gather information about what you think you need and determine whether I can offer appropriate care. If necessary, I will provide a referral to a more appropriate provider or to supplementary care. I see clients on Tuesdays and am a full time faculty member at the U. of St. Thomas.
I find that effective therapy requires a blend of skills that balances maintaining a safe and supportive environment with encouraging risk-taking that allows for new behaviors. I am a strengths-based therapist who believes that all people have the capacity to heal and find fulfillment in life.
I have been told that I am reliable, trustworthy, and calming. I am a practical and pragmatic therapist who attends to all aspects of personhood (mind, body, & spirit), while remaining firmly rooted in understanding that people live within a larger cultural context which also bears attention. I look forward to hearing from you!
