Hey, I'm Sage. Being both Gifted and Neurodivergent (known as being Twice-Exceptional/2E) can take a toll, resulting in Isolation, Depression, Anxiety, Overwhelm, Underwhelm, and Burnout. This further compounds when combined with unique experiences of Trauma, Stress, and/or LGBTQIA+ identity. Giftedness/High-Intelligence/High-Achievement; Neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, OCD, etc.); Mental Health Struggles; Unique Life Experiences; and LGBTQIA+ identity are an intricate crossroads of identity that I have experience with firsthand- you can work with someone who “just gets” this juxtaposition in an intimate way that a seeming few do.
In more concrete clinical terms, I practice integrative psychotherapy, primarily utilizing existential and psychodynamic (i.e. Lacanian) perspectives, subbing in parts of structured modalities (i.e. DBT, Schema) when warranted. Sessions often look quite exploratory and “deep,” with adjunctive structure able to be implemented if needed.
A central part of my work is autonomy and empowerment. You are able to utilize and wield your traits and abilities the way that you want to. You can undo the bindings of conditions both internal and external, unlocking exactly what it is you want to be devoting your energy and development toward. You not only can do it, you deserve it!
