I decided to become a therapist after more than 20 years as a high school teacher, where I worked closely with students navigating a wide range of academic, social, and emotional challenges. Over time, I found myself deeply affected by the struggles my students faced and increasingly aware of the limits of what I could do to support them in a school setting. This experience inspired me to pursue clinical mental health counseling so I could provide more direct and meaningful care.
I am passionate about working with youth and adults who may be hesitant or averse to therapy.
I understand that this process can feel uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or even intimidating for many, because seeking mental health support has not always been culturally common or openly encouraged. I strive to create a space that feels approachable, respectful, and grounded in authenticity and cultural sensitivity.
