Hello, my name is Ruth McKowen, I am an Licenced Independent Social Worker and I am happy and honored to do the important work of helping people navigate the challenges and difficulties of life. I have been in the mental health field for ten years; five of those years I worked in crisis intervention, where I had the privilege and opportunity to meet people who were at a very dark point in their lives and to help provide stabilization and hope.
I approach each client with empathy and understanding of the human condition—whether dealing with life's struggles, relationship challenges, stress, or emotional pain. I practice a person-centered therapy approach that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and at times gently challenging, with the goal of helping my clients find healing, clarity, and purpose.
I believe every person has a deep need to be heard, and it takes great courage to reach out for help. As a clinician, I am deeply invested in understanding my clients' stories, as I believe that our narratives hold the key to healing and growth.
