You don't have to spend the rest of your life simply surviving. My name is Ian Mearns, and I help adults heal from the experiences that continue to shape their lives long after the crisis has passed. I specialize in working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, grief, relationship loss, and the emotional challenges that often go unspoken. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, or carrying burdens you've managed alone for years, therapy can help you regain a sense of stability, purpose, and control.

Are you used to being the strong one... capable, dependable, high-functioning, and carrying so much responsibility that is slowly wearing you down? I support clients in slowing down, building capacity that lasts long-term, and new approaches to how you approach life and relationships. Over time, stress, burnout, unresolved conflict, trauma, and emotional disconnection can create a feeling of not knowing how to untangle the ball of anxiety and exhaustion you carry daily. I am here to help you build a life that feels sustainable.

You are so brave for taking this first step! I work with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and white folx of all genders who are interested in learning communication skills that they can use with themselves/others, boundaries, taming anxiety, or healing from trauma that stems from race, gender, sexuality, interpersonal relationships, and intergenerational family dynamics. If you are looking for a therapist who values authenticity, humor, and won't ask you to censor yourself, that is me. I strive to create a grounded, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment where you can express yourself freely.

You're looking for help with your pain. Pain, when understood and worked through, can become a path to growth, wisdom, and purpose. Together, we will explore the thoughts and feelings that keep you stuck in hardship, helping you take control of your story and reshape it in a way that empowers you. Through this process, suffering can turn into understanding, grief into strength, and what once felt overwhelming can become a source of passion and meaning.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves, their relationships, or the life they imagined living. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, faith topics or religious trauma, PTSD, or the lingering weight of perfectionism and self-doubt. Deep down, they want to feel grounded, confident, and capable of handling life’s challenges without losing themselves in the process. Whether you are leaving a toxic workplace, healing from trauma, managing anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking, or feeling overwhelmed by your brain, I provide guidance along the way.

I work with individuals and families facing complex challenges—trauma survivors, those
impacted by abuse, high-stress professionals, parents, and adults confronting difficult
patterns or painful histories. Some are managing serious mental health concerns, others
are simply ready to stop repeating what isn’t working. They want accountability, practical
strategies, and a therapist who is compassionate but straightforward, someone who helps them create lasting change.

Are you seeking therapy to improve your self-worth, find stress relief, or for personal growth?
My approach blends evidence-based techniques with genuine empathy, so you don’t just cope, you grow. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is healing: one built on trust, safety, and mutual respect. As a mixed-raced person, I also enjoy exploring the many intersectional layers that come with trying to understand our own identity.
