I work with school age children to adolescents who have special behavioral or learning needs. I focus on providing support to the entire family encompassing the child, parents and siblings. I provide family counseling, parenting skills coaching, and social skills training within the context of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Polyvagal Theory. I help with the initial trauma of a child's diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder or a Specific Learning Disability. I support a family on their journey from initial diagnosis to accessing resources and programs for their child.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Dialectical Behavior Therapy to resolve conflicts due to child's behavior, socialization, and learning. I help parents find appropriate school placement. I educate parents & siblings about the disability for understanding and sensitivity. I help parents institute a behavioral intervention plan for the entire family.
I am certificated as a Special Educator and an LMFT. I interpret IEP test results, placement and goals for the parent. I trained in the use of Dr. Daniel J. Siegel's "The Whole Brain Child" program and implement his parent coaching programs. I am trained in play therapy and use interactive equipment with non-verbal preschool children.
