I specialize in children, teens, young adults and parenting, with 20 years of experience counseling this population. Issues addressed include: behavior issues, anxiety and depression, school issues, family issues (including separated, divorced and blended families), self-esteem, peer issues, weight & eating issues including emotional eating, stress eating and binge eating, special needs, and clients living with chronic medical conditions. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive psychology, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and others. Counseling tailored to clients' needs.
I work with the child or teen and the parent, in whatever combination is appropriate for the situation. I provide a safe venue for children and teens to share their concerns and discover their strengths. I offer a nonjudgemental place where parents can openly discuss their struggles and concerns. I offer parenting direction and techniques.
Education: bachelor's degree in psychology (University of Michigan); master's degree in educational psychology/counseling (Baylor University); MPH degree: Master's in Public Health (University of Georgia).
