Well, maybe I'm the right therapist for you. I came to NYC 1984 to see bands and explore art and then bartended in the E. Village for many years before becoming a therapist. I refuse to be pigeonholed so I won't do that with you.
Childhood experiences affect the way we see ourselves/others and the adult relationships we attract. When heavy things happen to kids, strong/scary (but important) feelings and knowledge get disconnected from awareness.Therapy can reconnect us with those valuable feelings & perceptions to help clear up any parts of our past that hold us back.
Another area that I can be helpful with are cultural and generational issues. As a child of Cuban immigrants, I totally understand how difficult and anxiety-producing it can be to manage relationships with family members that may be more traditional or rejecting of American culture and values.
