Dads matter. Dads matter as involved, responsible, and caring fathers. Furthermore, dads matter as people: in addition to being positive impacts on children, fathers have inherent human value. Dads deserve support, resources, and self curiosity and knowledge; and children deserve secure and healthy caregivers. Experiential therapy encourages deep exploration, authentic impact, and sustainable change. As fathers, this intersects with themes of male caregiver identity and healing for future generations. Therapy promotes internal connection, and corrective emotional experiences can mend the mind to create transformational growth.
Experiences within the caregiving interaction and relationship may evoke difficult memories/emotions or previously-created beliefs, as well as the protective responses that developed in reaction to times that required safety. Exploring these historically-adaptive methods can heal the self, and encourage a more secure and intentional caregiving relationship.
