I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey and connecting with the right therapist is key in experiencing healing and growth. I specialize in children but I also work with adults who are caregivers and also clients who are in the healthcare industry. I have a lot of experience working with misunderstood children that are neurodivergent, gifted, or simply adjusting to a big life change such as loss or divorce. I also have experience working with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, general anxiety, and trauma.
I have been trained extensively in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Adlerian play therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and filial therapy. But ideally, I like to get to know my clients before deciding on an approach. With creative individuals, I also incorporate the arts, writing prompts, and dance/movement in sessions.
A therapist can be a safe place to be vulnerable and honest about your inner world. The therapist-client relationship serves as a model of how safe and authentic relationships should feel. I believe in therapy we learn to be more self-compassionate, which in turn increases our ability to empathize with others. Don't give up until you find the right one.
