I work to help individuals learn ways to have a more healthy relationship with their own thoughts, feelings, & emotions. Using my experience, knowledge & compassion, I work with each patient to find a better way to live with a wide range of difficulties (e.g., anxiety, anger, chronic illness, chronic pain, relationship issues). I strive to treat each person non-judgmentally and with dignity and respect.
I do not view individuals as being "broken." Some tools we use to cope do not work & need to be replaced with new, more effective ones. I encourage individuals to improve self-awareness & learn how to consciously direct their own lives, based on their values rather than their feelings, using empirically validated psychotherapy approaches & techniques.
I feel it is not my place to pass moral judgement on you or the problems you discuss. I strive to be respectful of my patients & their unique backgrounds, recognizing that people come from many different ethnic, religious or nonreligious, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
