Depression, anxiety, trauma, self-image, anger, relationships, life changes -- all of these issues are part of the human condition. But to resolve these needs alone can be a very difficult journey. I have many years of counseling experience helping others to have a better understanding of their problems and how to best move forward to find some answers. Most individuals need to be heard and understood by an unbiased person. They need relief from the painful issues at hand. I've continued to receive training to keep up-to-date on the latest strategies, but it's my belief that developing a trusting, caring relationship is essential.
It is important to be a warm, competent, and knowledgeable counselor who provides a safe, confidential setting. I use cognitive therapy and help the individual to identify and change thoughts and patterns of behavior which are causing difficulties. I also use an effective technique called Brainspotting to help those with unresolved issues from trauma.
I understand pain, hurt, anger, and grief. These emotions are real, no matter what age or stage in life. Relationships also can be very difficult, whether it be with couples or families. In the process of counseling, I will join with you to truly hear you and help you to gain insight and determine how to move toward positive change and peace.
