A history of emotional wounding could be playing a big part in your distress. But it is often difficult to make the connection. Emotional mistreatment is not like physical or overt sexual abuse, which are episodic and which often leave specific memories. It is more of a pattern of behavior directed towards you that leaves you feeling hurt, alone and uncertain of your place in the world.
As you overcome the effects of emotional abuse, you can focus more freely on the present, become unstuck, and and move forward. I'll help you, using a combination of psychodynamic therapy (exploring how your past affects you) and cognitive behavior therapy (correcting unhelpful thinking habits), individually and in groups.
I work with people of all ages, but I have special Institute training for work with children and adolescents. I have worked with people from many parts of the world, of many ethnicities and religions. Many clients have struggled with severe social problems and serious personal mistreatment.
