I see adults of all ages, seeking help in dealing with issues such as depression and difficulties in relationships. My style is active, interactive, nonjudgmental, warm, and empathetic, with a sense of humor. Mood and relational problems are sometimes related to ways that people have reacted and adapted to past traumatic experiences, which may also become a focus of therapy.
I have been providing individual and couple psychotherapy for over 30 years. My original training/orientation in psychodynamic and family systems approaches has expanded to include several contemporary approaches (including but not limited to IFS and EMDR) which have achieved enhanced results for those who come to see me.
My professional experience includes work in the Cambridge Hospital system, at Brookline Mental Health Center, and as Faculty Advisor at Simmons College School of Social Work. I am a Past President of the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation.
