No one begins their journey with gambling or substance use intending to develop an addiction. Initially, these activities serve as enjoyable distractions, temporary respites from life’s hardships. However, over time, gambling, drugs, and alcohol can become convenient remedies for various problems, such as trauma, fear, feelings of abandonment, domestic violence, low self-esteem, anger, anxiety, depression, and codependency. The unfortunate reality is that addictions, along with other emotional issues, can devastate lives and families. Yet, addiction doesn’t have to dictate one’s life. There are healthier alternatives available!
I’m Rob, an addiction counselor dedicated to helping you navigate life’s unexpected challenges. I’m passionate about mental health and have personally overcome addiction, thanks to therapy and the support of family and friends. This journey has given me new perspectives and a sense of optimism. My aim is to bring these benefits to you through my practice.
I understand the unique challenges that people face when caught up in the cycle of addiction and emotional turmoil. As a retired disabled veteran, I am familiar with the impact of addiction among active military members and veterans, including those who have seen combat. I also deeply understand the experiences of those who have been incarcerated.
