About
My approach is to help you feel better in a short time. I use Cognitive Therapy. The way you feel depends on how you see a situation. If you are anxious or depressed, you have symptoms, so you don't see things realistically. So often, you can feel anxious when the event you are afraid of never happens. The therapy consists of teaching you a set of skills that allows you to see the thoughts that underlie your feelings and neutralize the ones that are not realistic. The result is that you feel better in a short time.
My approach is based on the work of Dr. David Burns, author of Feeling Good and Feeling Great. This is a more powerful form of CBT. We start by identifying and neutralizing resistance you may have, and then use powerful techniques to challenge the thoughts. I treat anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, and depression.
I am on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and am the past president and Founding Fellow of the New York City Cognitive Behavior Therapy Association.
