Robert Lee Walton, MA, LPC, Counselor in Fayetteville
Painful life events distort our worldview and we feel isolated and alone. Relationship and career stress from change and relocation may trigger these events. We struggle to hide emotions from others because of grief, shame and guilt that often originate in childhood. They emerge as anger, anxiety and depression and impede success in day to day living. I work with adults who are realizing that the old ways of dealing in the world are no longer valid. I work with present experiences to uncover wounds from the past that hold us hostage from finding peace and spiritual harmony.
My approach to therapy is founded in Jungian and Humanistic theory and training. I believe relationship is paramount to effective transformation. Therefore, I create a therapeutic relationship that is balanced with empathy and compassion as well as confrontation and humor when needed to encourage the work to be done.
I specialize in working with clients whose present issues stem from family of origin dysfunction. My objective with clients based in this system is to recover the repressed inner child who holds the available peace and strength that feels missing in the present experience.
