Because so many clients see me for relationship issues, learning to set appropriate boundaries, communicating assertively, and nurturing healthy, equitable relationships are often a focus of our work. Many clients come to me in emotional pain resulting from traumas ranging from parents divorcing to marital infidelity, from illness to physical assault. We collaborate in treatment planning and assessing outcomes, and we make use of therapeutic tools and coping skills to fit their issues, strengths and preferences. I firmly believe in the capacity of my clients to grow, heal, change and take charge of their lives and relationships.
I am a charter member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I'm trained in EMDR. Many clients have histories of trauma, and working with clients on recovering trust of self, others, and life is a very rewarding priviledge.
The therapeutic relationship is the most important clinical factor in healing, so a connection with and respect for clients are paramount. Respect for diversity in religious and spiritual traditions lets me be welcoming of incorporating religion and spirituality into therapy if clients wish to do so.
