If you find yourself struggling with anxiety, depression, irritability or loneliness, you are clearly not alone, given how many therapists there are here! As a psychotherapist with 20 years of experience, I practice a powerful mindfulness-based intervention called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Often psychological pain has more to do with how we fight and judge our thoughts and feelings, and we end up in an exhausting internal struggle that we cannot win. We will work together to explore this struggle, gain distance from it, and learn skills and strategies to reduce its impact and influence on your life.

I have an active, warm and non-judgmental style. My work integrates cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapies, with mindfulness directly at the center. Whether we are exploring the past, or focusing on thoughts and behavior, mindfulness helps us to confidently move directly towards our experience instead of away from it.

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy involves increasing a compassionate awareness of our thoughts and feelings. This approach offers a unique way of working with depression, anxiety and other challenges to living a fuller life. We can learn to step back from unhelpful thoughts and feelings and be more engaged with our lives.

Rob Handelman's Groups

Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n Roll and Conversation

Men need to connect and have a sense of belonging just as much as women. However, we tend to be less good at making it happen. This ongoing bi-weekly lunchtime group for men will offer members an opportunity to clarify, in a warm and non-judgmental context, what's important to us, what motivates us, and what can get in the way. We will explore the personal meaning we give to: - Success - Strength and Power - Confidence - Connection. This is an opportunity to share, get curious, practice courage, and work on taking action in meaningful directions.
