Nothing damages a relationship more than betrayal. There is a process to not just recovering from, but redeeming what has happened. In many ways the betrayal is like a big boulder in the way of your relationship. Couples who don't address the boulder end up dragging it with them. The goal of counseling is to push the boulder out of the way and leave it behind.
