Thanks very much for finding my website. I have been in practice since 1984, helping couples, families, adolescents, and adults. In addition to clinical practice I am also a professor at USF where I teach couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy in the graduate Marriage and Family Certificate program. I approach all clients differently, depending on their specific concerns and circumstances. Regardless of the particular therapy modality, I do my best to show each person respect, warmth, and friendliness. I also incorporate Positive Psychology, an approach that makes the most of each client's and client family's unique pre-existing strengths and assets.
My approach with couples and families is focused more on solutions than problems. First I help them revive what they used to do that was pleasant and enjoyable. We then dig deeper and explore troublesome historical and emotional dynamics. Therapy tends to be short-term, affirming, active, emotion-focused, with suggested exercises to try at home.
