There are times when to be human is to suffer, but in meeting people who experience the pain associated with past traumas/PTSD, stress, anxiety and depression I believe that we can lessen that suffering with a better understanding of who we are and why we behave the ways we do. By un-learning the habits that no longer serve us we begin to thrive by becoming the person we’ve always had the capacity to be. Your wisdom - mind and body - is innate: you need only recover it. This process is forged in the therapeutic alliance, and is founded on the warm, compassionate and non-judgmental attention that I bring to our alliance.
We must look at the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and try to understand the meaning we’ve attached to them. These narratives inevitably inform our beliefs and feelings about ourselves, and together by examining these stories and moving through the difficult emotions that arise, together we may develop new ways of coping, of living, and thriving.
I understand that it’s not easy to ask for help, nor to share our deepest emotions. But I also know that sharing our burden is a great first step toward growth, and in establishing a safe environment I will support you in coming to trust our alliance. At the end of the day, it's really just having a conversation about a subject you know most about: yourself.
